Fun Mural for Kids – the Animal jeep

Kids Jungle Mural

Kids Jungle Mural

I did this mural for a nursery and my clients found the template on muralsforkids.com as wall paper but they wanted a “real” mural and hired me.

The jeep driver is a sweet monkey and because he is racing sometimes, his friend the gorilla, needed to wear glasses.

The Zebra is a bit freaked out because of the high speed but the Giraffe just loves it! The snake is having fun in the front. What a fun mural!

Mural with Roses – The perfect Nursery Mural

Nursery Mural

Nursery Mural

Karyssa’s bed is surrounded by many roses and butterflies – this romantic nursery mural is located in Granada Hills and I did it for a young couple who expected their first baby.

The name sign is hand painted; the roses are rather old fashioned and would also fit as well into a French country styled home.

The alternative to wall paper: Hand painted wall paper with roses, if you like floral art and want to add something special to your home.

The Circus is in Town!

Circus Mural

Circus Mural

This happy circus mural used to be in the Burbank mall in a child day center before the Army made a recruiting office out of the space.
Of course they did not keep the mural but the walls are not camoflashed either…

I created this mural in the evenings after the business hours when all the kids where gone.

Well, it is gone and many kids and parents could enjoy it.

Do you know how to decorate a kids room? Tips for a Mural

Article: How to decorate  a kid’s room

Every mom or dad likes to have a wonderful room for their beloved ones. Some start already before the child is born and others when they start to walk. There are many possibilities what you can do. I want to give you some useful information about murals and other decorative art for kid’s rooms.

How to mix colors – A blue room experiment

Do you know who invented the color wheel? It was Isaac Newton in 1704 and a basic understanding of the color wheel is helpful when mixing colors.
The 3 primary colors are red, yellow and blue. In theory, using these colors in their purest form, any color can be produced.

Things You’ll Need:

  • color wheel
  • paint
  • hair dryer
  • card board

Color Mix
If you need more of one particular color mix more than you need and keep it in a separate container with a lid to prevent drying out. Mixing exactly the same shade is almost impossible. You can mix up a tester shade of the color you need, paint some on a piece of card board and take it to a paint store to get as close a match as possible.

Mixing Dark Colors
When mixing very dark colors, like Paynes Grey or Cobalt Blue, into a lighter color, put some dark color in a separate pot and gradually mix in about 3-4 parts water. Gradually add this to the lighter color in another pot, mixing the paint as you go, until you get the desired color.

Testing colors on the wall
If you do test colors on the he wall keep in mind that the color will alter slightly as the paint dries. and will be slightly darker when wet. Use a hair dryer if you don’t want to wait until the paint is dry.

Matching colors
If you need matching colors on the wall, cut a square hole in the center of a small piece of white card board. Mix the color you think will fit and paint over the card board. When the paint is dry, hold the card up to the wall and look at the 2 shades. This should give you an idea of how close your color match is.

This is New York – Mural for Kids

I had the chance to do this whimsical mural in Los Angeles for a lady who was originally from New York.

The mural for her nursery features New York from the Fifties.

Here you can see kids in a very long taxi.

On the main wall – right picture – I did Times Square but with contemporary advertisments!

The left picture shows a typical fire hydrant from NY.

A whimsical NY tree is surrounding the baby bed. Do you like it? If so go to http://www.boysandgirlsmurals.com/ and send me an email.
