Antique Scroll on hand painted papyrus

Antique scroll Mural

Antique scroll Mural

This is a hand painted antique scroll on papyrus. The paper is not real paper,  I faux finished the texture, so it is all painted! My client gave me some quotes she liked which were rounding up the whole mural.

The mural is in the entry way on a wall which connects kitchen and living room.

Foxtrott of the good ol’ days!

Old Master Mural – The Ballerina – Bel Air residence

The Ballerina Mural

A romantic mural after the painting of N. Lancret – the progress

A 17th century mural after the painting of Nicholas Lancret (1690-1743). Let’s become romantic…

This is a blank wall. Look at it. Do you see anything special? No, it’s just a wall in a room which is the dining room of a private residence in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles.
My own artistic viewpoint: A challenge. Need for creation. Empty space. Liveless space. I searched and found a wonderful painting which was finally chosen by the client.
The draft for the mural can be seen at the end of this blog.
Right side of the wall, next to the door. I decided to paint a french landscape which was typical for the 17th century paintings.

The angel is sleeping – tranquility is the keyword.

The landscape is growing, more trees and bushes. Roses around the angel – it’s timeless. No need to rush. Tranquility.

People are entering the scene. Musicians playing old instruments.

A girl – still in no motion. Flower in her hair. A little smile…

The musicans come alive.

The star, the highlight of the mural is beginning to come into existence. It’s a beautiful lady…

Here she is:
Mademoiselle Marie de Camargo. One of the first famous ballerinas in Europe. She might have been forgotten but when I found her it made me feel happy. She is history. She is wonderful. She is dancing forever…

Left to the ballerina there is a handsome boy who plays the drum and the flute at once.

Landscape again, a lake, soft background. Cloudy sky. It’s a romantic summer’s day. Tranquility.

The whole Mural is done. Duration: 6 weeks.

And here is the draft and the painting of Nicholas Lancret:
